BLACK BUTTERFLY REVIEW

Wanda M.R. Garrett penned and illustrated a very delightful and moving poetic rhyming picture book.

The book starts off with a dynamic poem entitled, “You Are Somebody Special “and proceeds with a poetic story about a character named David.

As you turn the pages about a day in the life of David, you realize that David truly is a special little person. The book walks you through the joy that David gets out of everyday life. David shows you that it is the little things that count and although you may not get what you want out of life, you need to be grateful for the life that you have.

Ms. Garrett does a wonderful job at explaining to children and parents alike, that you have to consider yourself wonderful, because you are a creation of God. While reading this book, I was not aware that David was in a wheel chair, but once it ended with his prayer, I was most definitely inspired by the words that I read. I would recommend this book to children of all ages, because it took a children’s book to make me remember that God made me special and unique just as I am. Bravo! Ms. Garrett, for getting across this most important message.
